DogStar Books . . . Books for the Sirius Reader

We are an open-shop bookstore situated in a pedestrian friendly, residential neighborhood in historic Lancaster, Pennsylvania. We have strong selections of titles in scholarly, literary and art related fields. We also stock a diverse range of rare, antiquarian and collectable titles. At the same time we endeavor to provide clean, minimally used books at affordable prices for readers of all ages. The layout of the store has been designed to maximize display for variety and number of books while allowing space for monthly art exhibits and regular author readings. 1st Friday, July 4: Lancaster Indie Arts

DogStar Books & Gallery along with Chestnut Hill cafe hosts an opening reception for a group exhibition by members of Lancaster Indie Arts.



On display will be an eclectic range, both in style and media, of arts and fine crafts. Lancaster Indie Arts is a collective of local women artists who encourage and promote growth and success in the community through each of their artistic endeavors. The group's members will have pieces on display in the Dogstar Gallery space as well as in the stylish new neighborhood cafe across the street from DogStar - Chestnut Hill Cafe. DogStar Books & Gallery an opening reception for an exhibition of fine art photography by highly regarded local photographer, Barbara Dombach.


Barabara's photographic art is crafted out of a deep respect for photography's long tradition of historic and alternative printing processes. These methods require hands on relationship with film based photographic equipment and process's that are deeply encouraged by thought and truly coordinated by the artist's hand. The final image is not without some imperfection. Her recent 80 page book, titled "Collective Sojourn" features over 70 images of her artwork with brief process descriptions. Signed editions will be available for purchase opening evening August 1.
